Martin Fleig got the chance to compete at his home World Championships in Finsterau, Germany, in 2017, with the crowd carrying him to his first world titles - two biathlon golds and one bronze as well as a bronze in cross-country for good measure.

He not only claim his first World titles, but also finished top of the biathlon World Cup overall rankings, helped by two victories from the PyeongChang 2018 Test Event to round off his best ever season in 2016-2017.

He is now a firm medal hopeful for the Paralympic Winter Games, where he seeks to reach his first Paralympic podium following his medal-less performance from Sochi 2014.

An almost life-long skier, Fleig began skiing at the age of nine and began competing just two years later at the tender age of 11. His senior international debut for Germany came in 2006.
